| Published by Today's News Herald on Aug. 18, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Lyle Jay Murphy passed away on Aug. 2, 2021, surrounded by his children at his home in Lake Havasu City. He was 88 years old. Lyle was born on Dec. 29, 1932, in Anaheim, California to Walter and Cecil (Twiggs) Murphy. He joined the Navy at the youthful age of 16 years old and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. In 1949, Lyle married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Janet (Wagner) Murphy in San Diego. Lyle worked for the Metropolitan Water District and in 1990, after 32 years with the Water District where he had received the title of chief lineman, he retired. Lyle is survived by his four children: Rick Murphy (Susan) of Lake Havasu City, Cynthia Murphy of Lake Havasu City, David Murphy (Ruth) of Gilbert, Julia (Murphy) Bratt (Benny) of Kingman; sister, Darlene Neubauer; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jan Murphy, infant daughter Kitty, brother Jerry, and grandson Byron Lyle Bratt. We will miss you Dad. Due to the current weather, a military salute service will be given at a later date. Services were placed in the care of Bradbury Memorial Center, LHC. |
