| Published by Today's News Herald on Aug. 22, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Gloria passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 13, 2021 at the age of 93 in Lake Havasu City. Gloria was born and raised in Chicago where she met and married Rudy Wahlen on his return from WWII. Together they had two sons, Bruce (Alice) and Gary, six Grandchildren, Regina (Scott), Brad (Stephanie), Rudy (Laura), Toni, Ryan and Leigh. She also had fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In addition, there are several others that called her "grandma", and she treated them as her own. She had many friends including two elementary school friends that she kept in close contact with up until this sad day. We all feel so loved and cherished by her and will miss her very much. A job relocation brought Gloria and Rudy to Concord, Michigan, where they lived for over 50 years. In retirement they spent winters in sunny Arizona. In recent years Gloria lived at Prestige Living in Lake Havasu City. Gloria loved gardening and nature. She had a special love for all animals but making an exception for spiders! Birds were one of her favorites, but it would not be unusual for her to befriend a racoon family or a fat opossum, and she was never without a loyal dog at her side even to the very end. She was very quick witted and strong willed. She loved a good scotch and soda with LOTS of ice, she loved her Country and all the men and women who served, past and present and could debate politics with the best of them. A viewing and celebration of her life will be held at Lauer Family Funeral Home, Concord, Michigan with a graveside burial directly following at Maple Grove Cemetery, Main Street, Concord, Michigan.
