| Published by Yuma Sun on Aug. 21, 2021 - Yuma, Arizona - Charles Houston Mitchler, age 89, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 peacefully with his church family and nephew David at his side. Charlie was born December 21, 1931 in Aurora, Illinois; the second son of the late Lillian Janet Krumm Mitchler and the late Jacob Walter (Jack) Mitchler. Charlie was also known to many as Mitch. He worked at Morton Salt for 43 years in Casper, Wyoming; Billings, Montana; and Los Angeles, California. He was proud of the old days at Morton. He had a successful career at Morton and enjoyed the people he worked with and loved serving his accounts during his years at the company. Charlie and his late wife Jane Lambert Mitchler, were married 53 years, loved cooking and fine dining, and good wine. They also found great pleasure in traveling the world and sailing on over 25 cruises. After living in Los Angeles for many years, they moved to Yuma, AZ in 1994. In Yuma they found a new set of longtime friends and a church family they loved very much. In addition to his parents and his wife, Charlie is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Harlan and Marie Mitchler of Roswell, GA and his niece Lynn Mitchler of Roswell, GA. Charlie's surviving family includes; nieces, Ann Mitchler Boswell (husband Mike) of Plano, TX.; Nancy Mitchler Dooher (husband Patrick) of Stuart, FL.; nephew, David Harlan Mitchler (wife Kim) of Alpharetta, GA; great niece, Kathryn Boswell Blythe (husband Robert) of Atlanta, GA.; great nephews, Zachary David Mitchler (wife Julia) of Alpharetta, GA.; and Michael Christopher Mitchler of Alpharetta, GA. Charlie (Mitch) loved his church family and during the last year was grateful for those at the church who kept the bible studies and church services live for him to enjoy. The church family at Yuma Methodist Church will have an event in the fall to celebrate Mitch's life. Charlie and Jane will be interred in a private family service in Roswell, GA with mother, brother, and eleven other family members in the family burial land.
