Christian Michael Sweeney, 26, passed away September 1st, 2021 from
complications resulting from Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. Christian was
born in Indio, California and was raised in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Chris graduated from Lake Havasu High School in 2013 and attended
Purdue University. After being diagnosed with stage IV cancer during
his sophomore year of college, he took a leave of absence for
treatment. Christian returned to Purdue and graduated with honors,
earning a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering in 2019. He went on
to work as a Nuclear Engineer on the Spent Fuel Team with Dominion
Energy in Richmond, Virginia.
Christian rarely mentioned his illness and was determined to live life
to its fullest potential. Despite not knowing how long he had to live,
he filled his years with the pursuit of education and intellectual
advancement. In his free time, he loved reading, photography, video
games, and traveling the world.
Christian is survived by a large family – Kevin Sweeney (Father), Tina
Sweeney Braniger (Mother), Butch Braniger (Step-Father), Kalar Sweeney
(Step-Mother), Kathy Watkins (Grandmother), Brian Sweeney (Brother),
Hannah Sweeney (Sister), Heather Elliott (Sister), Madison & Olivia
Braniger (Step-Sisters), Will & Daniella Ojeda (Step-Siblings). He
also leaves behind his beloved dog and best friend, Bernie Verne.
A celebration of life service will be held on October 9th. If you are
