Amanda Marie McLean Dye passed away peacefully with family by her side
on the afternoon of Sept. 14, 2021. I could sit here and write about all
the different jobs Mandy had throughout her life, but work isn’t what we
live for, nor is it what defines us and the legacy we leave behind, so
instead I will tell you about the person she was and what she means to
her loved ones and friends.

Mandy was born June 16, 1972 in Los Angeles, California to Roger McLean
and Daniella Van Slogteren. She was the oldest of five children (all
sharing the same father) and was a mother figure to them all at
different times in their lives and also mothered our dad at times, too.
Mandy had a beautiful heart and was a very giving, family-oriented
person.

While she was raising her two children, she took in her youngest sister
to raise alongside her own children and always had at least one other
family member and multiple pets living with them as well. The house was
never empty and there was never a dull moment in the Dye/McLean
household. That home was always full of love, laughter, wild antics,
good food, personal growth, encouraging each other to heal and overcome
past traumas, and, of course, as with any family the occasional
arguments and tears.

Mandy was very dedicated to empowering and creating change within the
lives of her family and friends with the goal of making each generation
a little more functional than the one before it. She had love and
compassion for everyone and made a huge impact in the lives of so many
people. Her children and grandchildren were the most important things in
her life. They brought her so much joy and kept her moving and looking
forward to the future even on her most difficult, painful days. Mandy
loved her children more than anything in the world and never gave up on
them regardless of the circumstances.

She is preceded in death by her mother Ella Van Slogteren; father Roger
McLean; brother Jake McLean; all of her grandparents; and her ex-husband
Victor Dye.

Mandy is survived by her son Kodey Ward Dye (grandsons Jaydn Dye and
Blake Dye); daughter Kaydra Dye (grandson Karson Van Clief); stepmother
Cindy McLean; siblings Todd McLean, Connie McLean and Jenifer Anderson
(husband Adam); stepsisters September Maddox and Tina Douglass; as well
as Mandy’s boyfriend Daniel, several aunts, uncles, many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.

Please join us for a celebration of life Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 in the
Hualapai Mountain Park at the Rotary Club recreation area No. 3. Stop in
any time between the hours of noon and 5 p.m. and stay as long as you
like. It will be potluck style so feel free to bring a dish if you can,
but if not just come share memories, laughs and I’m sure some tears as
well.
