| Published by Today's News Herald on Nov. 7, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Arnold Wesley "Wes" Hamrick died October 24, 2021, in Show Low, AZ, at the age of 67. Wes was born in pre-statehood Anchorage, Alaska. Many there knew him from his activity in the snowmobile racing community. In recent years he traveled throughout Arizona as a singer-songwriter in the duo "Wes n' Wanda" with his partner. In 2020, Wes fell victim to misinformation about COVID not being serious, and these beliefs led him to not get vaccinated or take recommended pandemic precautions. He died of COVID pneumonia in an improvised intensive care unit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garner and Germaine Hamrick; his brother, Wally Morris; and his sister, Kathy Fleming. He is survived by his children, Marissa Hamrick, Jared Hamrick, and Larry Baldwin; his partner, Elwanda Hamrick; his sister, Carole Milstead, and his former wife, Yvonne Pitzer (née Nilles). An interment service at Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage is planned for the spring, pending the health of Wanda. In lieu of flowers, please make sure you and your loved ones are vaccinated against COVID. |
