| Published by Today's News Herald on Nov. 7, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Jaqueline Ruth Matson passed away on September 25th 2021. Jackie was born August 13th 1932 in Seattle, Washington to Robert and Lucille Anderson. A precocious girl, she packed her bags and ran away when her sister Noreen was born on the same day 3 years later. She attended Ballard High School and soon after married her husband, Douglas Matson. They were married 59 years when he died in 2012. The couple had two daughters, Carleen & Denise and raised them in the suburbs of Seattle. Jackie was active in politics from the age of 16 when she campaigned for Thomas E. Dewey for President. In addition to many years serving as a Precinct Committee Officer, Jackie also served as the Snohomish County Chair for the Washington Federation of Republican Women. In her many roles in the Republican Party, Jackie was honored to have met many American Presidents. She was smart as a whip and could routinely nail all the Jeopardy questions and was unbeatable in Scrabble. Doug and Jackie spent their retirement's years in Lake Havasu, Arizona where they had many friends. A private service for family will be held at a later date. |
