Estes Grade, age 80, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 surrounded in love by his son Brad and daughter Renee. Estes was born in Little Rock, Arkansas March 20, 1941, and was raised along with his brother, Gene, in Oregon City, Ore. Estes graduated from Lewis and Clark University, moved to Bremerton, Wash. and began working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Keyport and later Hawaii. Estes successfully navigated his 33 year Navy career earning numerous accolades including the Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Medal and ultimately retired as Senior Executive before joining BAE as the Vice President of Technical Services for his second career, and professor at Indiana University for his third. In his younger years, Estes enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends in Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii. Estes and his wife Linda moved to Bullhead City, Ariz. and took full advantage of their retirement, traveling the globe, visiting all seven continents, and gathering amazing works of art along the way. Estes' greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. He is joined in Heaven by his wife, Linda; eldest son, Bret; and brother, Gene. Estes is survived by his son, Brad; daughter, Renee; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Village Church at Greensprings. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to the Linda Grade Classroom Support Fund at the Mohave Valley United Methodist Church or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. |
