| Published by The Miner on Nov. 16, 2021 - Kingman, Arizona - Bernice C. Owen passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 7, 2021. Bernice was born Nov. 4, 1943 to Charles and Estelle Hopkins, the fourth of 10 children. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Edward Owen; her mother and father; and two sisters Lucille Sweeney and Charlsie Ramay. Bernice is survived by her four daughters Deborah Stafford, Peggy Anderson and spouse Billy, Noreen Murphy and spouse Wes, and Audrey Farmer; two sisters and five brothers. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family. Bernice dedicated many years to the Girl Scouts of America mentoring young girls to become strong, independent women. She also worked in the Kingman school district as a lunch lady in the cafeteria then moving into the education side as a kindergarten assistant and onto a special needs speech therapy assistant until she retired. After retirement from the school her desire to continue working with special needs found her working with respite care families here in Kingman. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with them and sharing their Special Olympics games, cultural events and travel adventures. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday Nov. 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Foursquare church at 2215 Emerson Ave. |
