| Published by Today's News Herald on Nov. 11, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona (personal article, page 2) This world lost an amazing man while Heaven gained another Angel when Dennis Joseph Lucas passed away on September 26, 2021. He was born March 1, 1945 to Dan and Gena Lucas in Oakland, California. Growing up in Orinda, California he was surrounded by an awesome family and had the fastest go-cart in the neighborhood. He built his Model A in the early 80's and put over 100K on it. He loved his cars and never lost that need to speed. He drove factory stock cars at 95 Speedway after he purchased a car for his 65th birthday. He never won a race. but he always had the biggest smile on his face. Before moving to Lake Tahoe in 1973 he delivered papers and worked at a service station. He delivered furniture, then repaired it, and he was a metal fabricator. In Tahoe he was a slot repairman, staying in the gaming industry until he became self-employed in 1985. He turned many hobbies into businesses. Starting with WoodAffair and ending with My Friend With Boat. He restored a 1967 Fairliner for that venture. Dennis and Shirley were snowbirds for many years until they became involved with Calvary Baptist Church and moved full time in 2012. Dennis served as Deacon and Santa (with Mrs. alongside). Through the Church he was always helping people around the house with projects they weren't able to perform themselves. He was very active in the CrossRoads Car and Bike Show. He recently completed a Chaplin's course. When not helping around the church he could be found in his shop working on any number of projects, his cars, and designing car art. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ed and Larry and his son, Dennis. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Shirley. His sister, Janet Kentnor (Bill) of Washington, Step-daughter Meredith (Tony), her daughter Devin. He also leaves behind the Rasmussen Family along with many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Rest in peace, Sweetheart, you will be missed terribly. There will be a Celebration of his Life on November 20th, 11am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1605 McCulloch Blvd S. In lieu of flowers please donate to Faith and Grace House at Faith and Grace, Inc., PO Box 733 LHC, AZ 86405. |
