Hazel "Betty" Chandler
July 28, 1929 - December 25, 2021

Hazel "Betty" Chandler passed peacefully at her home in Wickenburg on Christmas Day. It is her favorite holiday.

She was born on July 28, 1929. Her parents were Thomas and Florence Barker of Swampscott, Massachusetts. She attended Swampscott schools and was captain of the field hockey team. Betty and Frank met on the train to Boston and were married soon after. Frank had a job in California for North American Aircraft in L.A. Not long after they were to return to Marblehead where they worked for John S Martin Co on Cliff Street. Frank's father was ailing and they were there to help. The company was soon moved to 65 Pleasant Street where Betty was vice president and ran the company with Frank.

Betty was a member of Old North Church in Marblehead. She was an avid traveler and photographer, taking pictures and making friends around the world. She was a member of the Out of Focus Club that was organized by Bob Sinclair. That was her favorite batch of friends.

Betty loved to fly with my dad in his Cherokee, she even learned and took her test on the passengers side. She even said just recently that she'd go to space if she could! They were out of New England Flyers in Beverly.

Betty loved to cook and was always trying new dishes.

Betty is pre-deceased by her husband, Frank, of 53 years. Betty is survived by her daughter Karen Russo, and her husband, Mark. They reside in Marblehead Massachusetts, and Wickenburg; son Wayne Chandler and wife Sheila from Marblehead, Massachusetts; and son John Chandler and Salina from Newbury Massachusetts. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jarrett Russo of Marblehead, Colton Russo and wife Jacky of Cranston Rhode Island, Remington Russo of Marblehead, Cary Chandler of Beverly Massachusetts, Michael Chandler of Salem, Massachusetts, Patrick Chandler and wife Chemaine of Colorado, Theo Chandler of Colorado, and Bronwin Chandler of Newbury, as well as her nieces in Wisconsin.

Betty always had a great smile and loved all her friends and family very much. Betty spent the last six years between Marblehead and Wickenburg, where she explored the West with her daughter. She loved the rodeos. The family of Betty give the caretakers our greatest gratitude, they loved her dearly and were instrumental to her well being. She loved them very much.

The family will receive friends April 12, 2022, at the graveside of the Chandler Family Waterside Cemetery. Times to be announced at a later date. This is a special day, Frank and Betty were married on this day in 1952. Gathering after for food and conversation at the Gerry 5 Beacon St. Marblehead, Massachusetts.

In Honor of Betty she expressed her wishes in lieu of flowers to have donations to the Edith Dodge fund in Marblehead. Friends may offer online condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com.
