| Published by Mohave Daily News Online from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, 2022 - Bullhead City, Arizona >> September 18, 1935 – January 16, 2022 << Charles Robert Moncrief, Jr., age 86, of Bullhead City, Arizona and former long-time resident of Ventura County, California, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Charles was born in Thomasville, Georgia to Charles Robert, Sr. and Essie White Moncrief. He was the second oldest of five children. After high school, Charles served in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of Bob Jones University and the University of Southern California. His early work experience included positions with the United States Post Office and being a junior high school teacher and football coach. After moving to California, Charles enjoyed a long career in civil service working at several Naval activities overseas, NAWC-WD China Lake, and finally at NAWC-WD Point Mugu, where he retired in 1991 with over 35 years of service. He was a mentor, a leader, and a faithful servant in his church. He spent his retired years keeping-up on his devotions, caregiving, and serving as a deacon and leader of various church ministries where he was known for telling great stories and being a good listener. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends alongside his devoted wife who he often referred to as his "beautiful bride" and the love of his life. He also liked decorating for Christmas and was pleasantly surprised to win a neighborhood house decorating contest. He loved listening to his wind-chimes, bird watching, reading, writing, teaching, speaking, and maintaining his daily planners. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to Sonic with his faithful fur-babies, Chippy and Chanel. He will be fondly remembered as a kind person, a great hugger who always smelled so-good, and an avid prayer warrior! He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Joyce Moncrief; and brother James Landis Moncrief. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children, Joni (Stuart) Karpinski of Santa Rosa, California, Cindy (Gary) Wright of Edmond, Oklahoma, Charles Greg (Sherri) Moncrief of Edmond, Oklahoma, Lisa Michelle (Reyna) Gilroy of Port Hueneme, California, Nicolette Catice Moncrief of Arroyo Grande, California, and Charles Robert (Michele) Moncrief III of Arroyo Grande, California; his grandchildren, Eric (Ulrika), Darren, Chelsea, Melody, Lindsay, Samuel, Shane, and Elias; his great- grandchildren, Elin and William; his sister, Brenda Joy (Charles) Sanders ; and brother, Ronnie (Elizabeth) Moncrief of Florida. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Desert Shores Community Baptist Church, 2625 Landon Dr., Bullhead City, AZ 86429.
