| Published by Yuma Sun on Feb. 6, 2022 - Yuma, Arizona - Vernelda S. Silos, 74, passed away January 30, 2022 in Yuma, Arizona. She was born December 29, 1947 in Fort Yuma, California. Vernelda attended an all Native boarding school and after graduating, she attended San Jose State College where she would start her career in engineering at ESL Technology in Santa Clara, California. She then moved back to Fort Yuma and worked for 21 years in the gaming services at Paradise Casino. She was a beloved member of the Quechan Tribe, mother of 4 children, a grandmother to many grand-children and great grand-children. After retirement she enjoyed spending time at the casinos and with her family. She loved to travel and experience different things. Vernelda leaves behind her beloved husband of 40 years, Manuel Silos, daughters: Valerie Tiger, Terilynn Tiger, Yvonne(John) Rowland, Veronica(Rudy) Silos and son Manuel(Geri) Silos. Sisters: Erna Jackson, Elizabeth(Wesley) Mosley, Betty Martinez, Sandra Martinez, Joanna Serna. Brothers: Geoffrey Cachora, Ernest Cachora Jr. Grand children: Adrianna(Stevie) Tiger, Shayna Tiger, Tyffanni Tiger, Lydia Tiger, Mirannda Tiger, Garritt Rowland, Vincent Tiger Jr, Jarod Vasquez, Isaiah Vasquez, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Ernest Cachora Sr., mother - Faythe Millard, grand fathers - George Hayes and Ignatius Cachora, grand mothers - Lizzy Willis and Elizabeth Dewey, son - Vincent Tiger Sr. and grand son - Adrian Trevino. Services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Yuma Mortuary, 775 S. 5th Ave. Yuma, AZ from 9:00am 12:00pm. Tribal service will follow 12:00pm 5:0pm at The Quechan Big House, 1877 Picacho Rd. In Winterhaven, California. Cremation will take place at 5:00 pm. Pallbearers: Manuel Silos Jr., Felipe Soliz, Gerardo, Garcia Jr., Jesse Urias, Quentin Barley, Emmanuel Sanchez, James Robles, Alvin Robles and Garritt Rowland.
