| Published by Yuma Sun on Feb. 8, 2022 - Yuma, Arizona - Jarrett Kane Kelly, 40, passed away on January 31, 2022 at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, AZ. He was born on December 30, 1981 in Yuma, AZ to Merrill and Lenora Kelly. Jarrett, often known to family and friends as Jay, graduated from San Pasqual High School in 2000 and went to work at Paradise Casino in the Housekeeping Department. He worked there for several years and later moved to Tempe, AZ to attend school at Collins College. Jay graduated with an Associates of the Arts Degree in Graphic Arts. He did freelance work for the Scottsdale Fashion Show, independent t- shirt design campaigns and had several art pieces showcased at Collins College. Jay began working at Lone Butte Casino in Chandler, AZ as a Bar Back and soon after he was promoted to Bar Assistant. He also worked various establishments in downtown Tempe during his time he was in school. He later went to work at Casino Arizona in Scottsdale, AZ for a short period before moving back to his hometown, Winterhaven, CA. Jay started working at Quechan Casino Resort as a Bar Back soon after, his true passion. He was a hard worker and always helped everyone who needed it. He loved the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Tom Brady. A lifelong WWE fan, he loved watching it every week and the pay- per-views. Jay loved music and played in a band with his brothers. He loved strumming away any chance he could. Another one of his passions was skateboarding and his two favorite skaters were Jamie Thomas and Christian Hosoi. Jay was a member of the 26th St. Saloonatics club. He met and made lifelong friends, a brotherhood that became family. Jay is survived by his parents, Merrill and Lenora Kelly, Brothers, Fredrick Kelly, Orlando Kelly, Varian Kelly (Lynette Roosevelt), Lindsay Kelly (Lynae Menta), Sisters, Erica Kelly, Margaret Kelly, Arvada Kelly, Ila Hopper (Warrior Nierenhausen), Ina (Walter) Hall and FayeAnne Dugan. Uncles Joseph Menta, Merrill (Charlene) Menta, Craig Menta Sr., Jarrell (Mary) Brown Sr., Aunts Barbara (Orlando) Belvado, Eileen Menta (Wallace Dugan Jr.), Carolyn Menta, Arlene (Louis) Johnson, Blanche Miguel, Gail Johns, Armida Brown and Carmella Kelly. And numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John F. Kelly and Beulah Kelly, maternal grandparents, Joe Menta and Eunice Menta, Great Aunt, Shirley Kelly. Uncles Leonard Kelly, John F. Kelly III, Randall Menta, Brandon Nopah, W. Buck Brown. Aunts Stephanie Kelly, Louise C. Kelly, Carmen Bard, Cassandra Miguel, and Cousin, Cecil Allison Jr., Baby Hall. Pallbearers will be James Mills, Walter Hall, Joseph Hammond, Warrior Nierenhausen, Barry Comet, Varian Kelly, Taylor Menta, Neil McCall, Ronald Ross, Jeffrey Pierson, Matthew Kirkland, Adam Dillon. Honorary Pallbearers are Fredrick Kelly, Orlando Kelly, Lindsay Kelly, Lavar Twist, Gabriel Mills, Frank Comet, Craig Menta Sr., Joseph Menta, Merrill Menta, Wallace Dugan Jr., Jermaine Miguel, Orlando Belvado. Funeral Services will be at Yuma Mortuary on February 9, 2022. A family viewing at 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Services at 10:00 am to 11:45 am. Traditional tribal ceremony will be held at the Quechan Big House at 12:00 pm and cremation at 5:00 pm. Family was always a priority in your life and you helped everyone and took nothing for granted.
