| Published by Today's News Herald from Feb. 12 to Feb. 13, 2022 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - James (Jim) Michael Longshore passed away Monday January 31, 2022. He was born in Sacramento, California December 27, 1938 to James and Lucille Longshore as a fourth generation Sacramentan. His Great Grandfather established Longshore Luggage in Sacramento in 1880, a firm that remained in their family until 2004. He graduated from McClatchy High School then attended University of San Francisco. Jim enlisted in the Navy, became an attack pilot flying A4 Skyhawks, and served for six years with two tours as a carrier pilot on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War. Jim was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross"For Extraordinary achievement in aerial flight…" On completion of active duty Jim became a pilot for Pan American World Airways flying internationally for twenty years. He along with 2,700 staff and 18 aircraft moved to United Airlines when they purchased PanAm's pacific routes. He was based in San Francisco, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. He loved fast jets, cars, and boats. As a hobby he engaged in offshore racing and owned boats wherever he lived. In 1992 he purchased a second home in Lake Havasu and fell in love with the lake, the people, and the desert. During his vacation times at the lake he met the love of his life and gave up his lifelong bachelorhood. He and his wife, Brenda, married in 2001. She provided a readymade family and he showed her the world. The Portz children, Kim, John Jr, Steven, Jarrett, and their spouses, along with their children, Devin, Harrison, Jade, Josslyn and Kellan gave Jim the joy of family. Together Jim and Brenda developed a piece of property and built their dream life together enjoying extensive travel, big family gatherings, and wonderful longtime friendships. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, children and grandchildren, his brother Rick Longshore and wife Pat of Maui. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday February 20th 11:30 to 4:00 At Shugrue's Bridgeview Room. Military Honors to be rendered at 12:30 by the Marine Corps League Detachment 757. Arrangements were handled by Heritage Arrowhead Funeral Chapel, Glendale, Az. |
