| Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, February 2, 2022, p. A-5 Glen Longshore January 11, 1948 - January 29, 2022 Glen was born Jan. 11, 1948, to Irven and Vivian (Thomas) Longshore in Glendora, California. He died Jan. 29, 2022, in Surprise. Glen lived his early life in Glendora, graduating from Glendora High School in 1966. Even though he was a California State Scholarship winner, he escaped to Oregon and received his bachelors degree from the University of Oregon in 1970. With his wife, he attended Indiana University (Bloomington) in 1971, graduating with his first master's degree in instructional technology in 1972. After receiving a second masters degree in library science from the University of Oregon, he worked for 30 years as an instructional media technologist at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon. He was also the owner and operator of Serendipity Cellars Winery, the first winery to be established in Polk County, Oregon, from 1981-1999. After retirement, Glen, Cheryl, and Ross spent some years campground hosting and traveling throughout the United States while living in their RV. In 2006, the family began "snowbirding" spending winters at Escapees North Ranch in Congress, and summers traveling and visiting family in Oregon. Glen was always interested in history and spent much time researching his family's genealogy going back in the United States since before the Revolutionary War. He had recently discovered his Scottish connection and was a proud member of Clan Scott, enjoying wearing his kilt for formal occasions. Glen was baptized into the Disciples of Christ as a teenager and later joined the United Methodist Church. Currently, he was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg. He had a strong faith and we are confident he is now with Jesus. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Cheryl; children Kenneth (Katie), Stephanie Lee (Jason), and Ross; grandchildren Lahela Lee, Vivian and Paxton Longshore; cousins Diana Rubidoux, Sandra Haas and others too numerous to mention. A memorial service honoring Glen will be held Thursday, Feb. 10 at 10:30am at the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg, 180 N. Adams Street, Wickenburg, AZ 85390. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Glen's honor to the Lysle Riley Scholarship Fund administered by the Deacons of First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg or to your local public library.
