| Published by Today's News Herald on Mar. 9, 2022 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Ione Elna (Knudson) Dopp left for heaven on Sunday, March 6. Ione was born on June 26, 1924 in Balaton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of George Lloyd Knudson and Augusta Julianna Elizabeth Larson. She graduated as valedictorian of her small high school class in Balaton and graduated as salutatorian from Gustavus Adolphus College with a major in English and a minor in biology, then began a career teaching English. She was proud that to be listed in "Who's Who in Colleges and Universities." Ione met her first husband, John "Jack" Haley in her early 20s and they married in 1947. Ione and Jack had six children: Michael Haley, Anne Haley Machetto, James Haley, Steven Haley, Brian Haley, and Mary (Haley) Jermann. Jack died in 1967. Ione married Roy Dopp two years later. Roy brought four children from his first marriage, Susan Dopp, Jeffrey Dopp, Chris Dopp and Karma (Dopp) Vieira, into the family. All included, Ione's family includes 10 children, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. After 43 years of marriage and over 30 years enjoying special friends and Dopp family members in Lake Havasu City, Roy sadly passed away in 2012. Ione's other loves were dancing – especially swing dancing with Roy – and playing bridge. Up until recently, Ione stayed in shape, walking to church and the hairdresser, but some time ago, she had to give that up. Ione retained her fun personality and her sense of humor throughout the end of her long life. She will be greatly missed by all of her loved ones and friends! Services will be held at Lietz- Fraze Funeral Home Wednesday March 9, 2022 at 1 p.m. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
