Dawn Sharon Larsen, 77, passed away at home March 21, 2022 after a
painful, but rapid time with cancer. Her family was at her side.
She was born in Hollywood, California to parents, William, and Lou
(Miller) Smith on Aug. 2, 1944.
She was raised in Reseda, California and graduated with honors from
Cleveland High School. She later received her AA degree at Skyline
College in San Francisco and her BA degree from Oakland University in
Rochester, Michigan - both degrees with honors. She married her high
school sweetheart in 1962 and was just short of their 60th anniversary
when she died. She leaves behind her husband, Eric, and two sons,
Christopher, and Dane, and five grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife,
mother, and grandmother.
Because of Eric's career, she lived in several locations such as
Norfolk, Virginia, Charleston, South Carolina, Van Nuys and San
Francisco, California and Detroit. She finally settled into Carlsbad,
California for 20 years and later moved into her vacation/retirement
home in Lake Havasu in 2003.
Dawn was the administrator of a large continuing care facility in
Carlsbad. She was a licensed nursing home administrator.
Upon retirement, she took lessons in pottery at MCC and loved the craft
primarily because of the friends she met in the art community of Havasu.
She was also involved with the library and her reading friends. She
loved to travel and made 14 trips to Europe. She also loved her boat at
the marina and her RV. She will be missed.
