| Published by Yuma Sun on Apr. 6, 2022. Yuma, Arizona - Barbara (Amavisca) Zimmerman, 85, Ducor, CA passed away on March 4, 2022 in Porterville, CA. Barbara was born in Yuma, AZ to Conrad (Colonel) Amavisca and Irene (Olea) Amavisca on January 6, 1937 and spent most of her childhood in Agua Caliente, AZ on the family ranch. Her education began in a 1 room school house in Agua Caliente, AZ and later attended Yuma Elementary School and Yuma Union High School. Barbara married Herb Zimmerman on Nov 14, 1958. In 1962, settled in Ducor, CA where they raised their family. Later, raising sheep and growing grain. Barbara was blessed with many talents. She was not only artistically inclined but musically as well playing various instruments, which later she taught her children and grandchildren to play. Those around her were witness to her never ending ability to keep everyone laughing and on their toes with her practical jokes and innuendos. The organizations and hobbies that Barbara was involved with are vast. A true Vaquera known for her horsemanship. She was an active member of Ducor School Parents Club, Women's Club and a 4-H leader. Barbara was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She included golf, water skiing and gardening in her hobbies as well. Surviving Barbara are children, Sherry Perry (Robert) of Ducor, Andrew Andy Zimmerman (Lisa), ID and Robert Dean Zimmerman, CA. 13 Grandchildren. several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sisters, Edelmira Millie Gonzales, Marie Cooper and brothers Frank Amavisca, Cippy Correa. Preceding her in death are her parents, Herb, her husband. Children Conrad Butch Zimmerman, Lolita Zimmerman Lowe, Herbert Kim Zimmerman, Also, preceding in death were brothers Conrad Jr Amavisca, Joseph Peewee Amavisca and David John Amavisca. Burial Services April 10, 2022, at 10:00 am at Pioneer Cemetery, Agua Caliente, AZ. Celebration of Life following at 5:30p at Cooper Casa, 1931 S 5th Ave, Yuma.
