| Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Hans Peter Segers, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on May 16, 1916 in Duisburg, Germany. He and his wife Herta celebrated their 65th, wedding anniversary on February 23, 2005. Hans moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 18 years ago from El Segundo, CA. He worked for Metalore in El Segundo, CA. Hans and Herta left war torn Germany to immigrate to Canada and then immigrated to the United States, leaving their families in Germany to start a better life for their children. His proudest moment was becoming a United States citizen. Hans was a machinist for 50 years and made parts for the Apollo Mission that put the man on the moon. He also made parts for the Indy cars and Formula One race cars. Hans won the German Championship in bicycle racing in 1934. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling and lived and breathed Formula One Racing. Hans is survived by his loving wife Herta Segers, son Hans Segers of Atlanta, GA; Peter Segers of Palm Desert, CA; daughter Ursula "Billie" Bruckner of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, May 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Richard Rounds will be officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory. |
