| Published by Today's News Herald on April 26, 2022 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Donald Carl Knapp, 76, passed away in Lake Havasu, AZ, on April 21, 2022, with his son, Troy, by his side. Don was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. He was strong and peaceful through his battle and so very thankful to receive loving care from family and friends. Donald was born in Emmetsburg, IA to Carl & Ilene Knapp on December 14, 1946 and grew up in Ringsted, IA. Throughout his life, he spent time between his 2 homes in Lake Crystal, MN and Lake Havasu City, AZ. Don enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends from far and wide. Don's open door policy was present and known. He always welcomed company into his home, no matter what time of day or night. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Elks Club, and considered these locations his "happy place" where he enjoyed visiting with friends and playing cards. Don was definitely a leader of the pack, and howled as loud as he could for all to hear on occasion. Don will be lovingly missed by all who knew him. At Don's request, family and friends are invited to his Memorial Service and Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 4:00 pm, in the American Legion, 181 Paseo del Sol Avenue, Lake Havasu City, AZ. Following a tribute and dedication, there will be music inspired by Don. Your attendance is welcomed and appreciated. A Memorial Service in Lake Crystal, MN will be held at a later date.
