| Published by Yuma Sun on Jun. 2, 2022 - Yuma, Arizona - Alicia Angelita Miller passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022 in Scottsdale, AZ. Alicia was born February 13, 1973 in Yuma, AZ to Michael Miguel and Hortense Polk Miguel. She had been married for over 23 years to her Husband George Miller from Bloomfield, NM. She is of the Polk, Escalanti, Carr, and Pasqual family on her maternal side and of the Miguel family on her paternal side. Alicia was a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She Graduated in 1991 from San Pasqual High School in Winterhaven, Ca. Later she completed her Associates in Paralegal Studies from Metropolitan College in Phoenix, AZ. While attending school she worked full time as an HR assistant with the Quechan tribe, then as a Gaming Inspector/investigator, Compliance Officer, and Assistant Chief Gaming Inspector for Quechan Gaming. She also worked for Gila River Gaming as an Inspector and Compliance Officer. After earning her Associates she began her career as a Legal Assistant for Maricopa County. She also began a business providing Scarves for elders, so they would not have to travel far, to use in tribal rites and celebrations. She also made beaded accessories for women. She enjoyed traveling, watching ballets, sharing and telling stories, listening to many types of music such as intertribal pow-wow, bird singing, Motown, and 80's pop just to name a few. She is survived by her Husband George Miller, Mother Hortense Polk Miguel of Winterhaven, CA, Father Michael Miguel of Somerton, AZ and Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. She is proceeded in death by (Maternal side) her Grandmother Lucinda Escalanti Polk Smith, Grandfather Raphael Polk Sr, and cousin Anthony Polk Villa, (Paternal side) Nellie (Sexsmith) Miguel, Jefferson Miguel Jr, and cousin Kismet Sanchez. Memorial services will be held at Yuma Mortuary on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Family viewing will be at 2:00 pm, public viewing at 3:00 pm and services at 3:30 pm. Quechan Tribal Rites to start at 9:00 pm Saturday evening with cremation by 5:00 am Sunday morning at Quechan Big House. Flowers can be sent to Yuma Mortuary. Memorial funds in lieu of flowers can be made out or given to George Miller. Pallbearers are Xavier Osborne, Manuel Villa, Randy Moody, Eric Johnson, Leroy Gashwazra Jr, Quentin Escalanti, Madera Holstein Sr, Claude Thundercloud, and Frederick Miller.
