Robert Eugene Erdmann
Aug. 14, 1930 - July 11, 2022

Robert Eugene Erdmann formerly of Osage, Iowa born August 14, 1930,
passed Monday, July 11, 2022 at his home in Peoria, Ariz., just shy of
his 92nd birthday.

Bob graduated from Osage Community High School (Osage, Iowa) and shortly
thereafter attended Cornell University before earning his Bachelors of
Arts in Political Science from the University of Iowa (Iowa City, Iowa).
A music enthusiast and born performer, Bob utilized his musical passion
during the Korean War where he entertained troops as part of a U.S.O.
dance-band.

Bob found great joy in singing, playing piano, playing trombone and
participating in annual productions of Handel's Messiah. After the war,
he returned to Osage, Iowa, where he met his wife of 60 years Virgene
(Kittleson) Erdmann in Osage, Iowa, where she was working as a nurse.
After tying the knot, the two departed for Phoenix to start their
family, returning to Iowa seven years later with their three boys (Neal,
Brent and Darin) and a plan. Their fourth child (Jill) would arrive soon
thereafter.

Robert and Virgene's return to Iowa was precipitated by an opportunity
to purchase Robert's father's Oldsmobile dealership. An astute
businessman, he quickly grew the intial acquisition to include
Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Ski-Doo and Suzuki franchises.

Bob's personal passions and pastimes included family, fishing, golfing,
snowmobiling, camping and travel. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Virgene, and is survived by his four children and ther spouses, Neal
Erdmann and wife Tina (Crossman) Erdmann, Brent Erdmann and husband
Thomas Field, Darin Erdmann and wife Deborah (Sullivan) Erdmann and Jill
(Erdmann) Wetherell and husband Curt Wetherell. Bob has eight
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren whom he adored and fawned
over whenever possible. Bob was a very kind and loving man who found
magic in everyday events which he enthusiastically shared with those
around him. His light and his eager smile will be greatly missed by
everyone that knew him.
