God has decided it was time for William D. Chapin to go to Heaven. He
passed away on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022 very unexpectedly. Bill was the
kind of man who was prepared for whatever happened next whether it was
racing, Christmas, birthdays, family, and even meals. But his passing
was not one of them. Bill was born on Jan. 2, 1957. He was 65.

Bill led a very exciting life. He was a Motocross racer in his younger
years, and did very well. When he got hurt he decided that building the
motorcycles might be the better way to go. After motorcycles, he entered
the world of Jet Skis, first by racing them and then by building them.
That's when R & D came into the picture, his company that he partnered
in for 30 years. He was extremely inventive and developed hundreds of
parts for the Jet Skis. He traveled the world for races with his riders,
going to places like Japan, Jamaica, and France. After retiring from the
Jet Ski world, he quickly began utilizing his creative skills and
thinking in developing new parts for UTV's where a new love of racing
took over.

Bill had a love for life. He was extremely ambitious and passionate. He
enjoyed mountain biking, fishing, camping and hiking in the mountains,
and horseback riding. It didn't matter what he was involved in, he was
always looking for ways to make it better. He was fearless, generous,
eclectic, fun-loving, frustrating, creative, sensitive, and protective.

As much as he loved his work, he also loved his family. He is survived
by his wife Stephanie, his daughters Brittani and Alyson, his son
Jeffrey, his granddaughter Livia, and his dog, Kaptain. He is also
survived by his in-laws, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and
nephews.

He passed away too quickly. His wings were ready but our hearts were
not. He will be missed every day and loved every minute.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. at
Shugrue's in the banquet room.
