Joan Marie Bresnahan (Ashbacker), age 69, passed away on Wednesday,
August 24, 2022. She was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on November 17,
1952 to Charles and Lou Ella Ashbacker.

She grew up in the Dakotas and in Montana. Joan was very close to her
father and very much a tomboy, even down to the jeans and boots just
like her father. She enjoyed riding horses and working with her dad on
the ranch.

Religion had always played an important part in Joan's life. Her parents
gave her a deep understanding of faith through their own example, as it
had played a major role in their lives. She was not too clear on what
she wanted for her future, she had thoughts of a teaching career,
becoming a nun, social worker, or the Military. After High School
graduation in 1970, she attended College in Bozeman, Montana and then
decided to enlist in the United States Navy in 1972. After finishing
training she was stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach,
Virginia, where she met and married David Marcoux (divorced) and had
three beautiful daughters.

In 1989, she married William Bresnahan and they had been married for 33
years. Joan later received her Bachelors of General Studies in 1989 from
Chaminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii.

After retiring from the military she became a dedicated case worker for
CPS and Catholic Charities. After retirement she enjoyed spending time
doing Genealogy, she was an active member of DAR (Daughters of American
Revolution), visiting her grandchildren, and traveling. She was preceded
in death by her parents.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by her
husband, William; her three daughters, Chrissy (Jamie) of Charon,
Nebraska, Theresa (Mike) of Fallon, Nevada, and Stacy (Alfred) of
Yorktown, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Taryn, Alyssa, Lauryn, Trevor,
Paige, Aubrey and Zander; three step-children, Christine of Bullhead
City, Arizona, Richard (Amber) of Youngsville, Louisiana, and Jessica
(Stephen) of San Bernardino, California; and nine step-grandchildren;
and one step-great-grandson.

Catholic services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30 2022
at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, 1691 N. Oatman Road, Bullhead
City, Arizona. Internment will be at The Black Hills National Cemetery
at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to St Labre Indian School
in honor of Joan.
