Dr. Gary R. "Doc" Schmit Sr., 80, passed away on Saturday August 27, 
2022. He was born on May 11,1942 in Fargo, ND to Helen Alm and Robert 
Schmit. After graduation from Shanley High School he attended NDSU and 
ASU before graduating from Creighton University School of Dentistry. His 
great loves, aside from people, were dentistry & golf. 

He practiced in Sun City, AZ for 25 years until a brain injury forced 
him to retire in 1996. He also gave up golf then, which he had played 
since he became a caddy at 12, holding a low handicap of 2 and 6 holes-
in-one. 

Gary is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dotty, his sister Diane 
Williamson (Ken), his daughters Debbie Gallinatti (Mark), Deone Caliguri 
(Brian), Dawn Torgerson (Damon), Jill Holcomb (Patrick) & sons Gary Jr. 
(Serena), Mike Stewart (Lisa), 12 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. 

Services were private.
