| Weekly Journal-Miner (Prescott, Arizona) Wednesday, January 11, 1922, p. 2 AL VROOM DIES AT HOSPITAL (From Tuesday's Daily) Al Vroom, pioneer miner and rancher of Yavapai county, passed away early yesterday morning, after an illness of several months. His death came but two days after he had returned from Hot Springs, Ark., where he went a short time ago with Clarence Dyer, who formerly was nurse at the Pioneer Home, in the hope of recovering his shattered health. He died at 2:30 a.m. at Mercy hospital. Mr. Vroom was among the best known residents of the county, having ranched and mined for many years in Groom Creek. A month or two ago, he developed a serious illness, and was moved from his home in Groom Creek to Prescott. Later, it was felt a sojourn at the Hot Springs in Arkansas would benefit him, and he went there with Clarence Dyer. He returned to Prescott from Hot Springs last week, his recovery having been despaired of. Mr. Vroom had lived in Yavapai for 30 years prior to his death, which occurred at the age of 55 years. He is survived by Mrs. Vroom. Arrangements are being made for funeral services, which will be held by Prescott lodge No. 330, B. P. O. Elks, of which he was a member for many years. The Elks' ritual probably will be held Tuesday. |
