Jo Ann (Sweaney) Lawler

Jo Ann Lawler, age 88, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away peacefully June
17, 2022, at her home. She was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Thayer, Mo., the
daughter of the late Leslie Franklin Sweaney and Mabel Marie Fernimen
Sweaney. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Paul
Lawler.

Jo Ann was an accomplished piano player that gave the gift of music to
her children and students that she taught over the years. She played
both the piano and organ for her church, played with a quartet, even
toured through Europe and played once at the Vatican.

While living in Wickenburg she occasionally played as a substitute
organist at St. Alban's Church. Jo Ann also loved spending time in her
garden growing beautiful flowers. After moving to Wickenburg she
designed and built her home, which was featured on the Western Museum's
Home Tour.

She is survived by her five children, Lisa Duitman and husband Henry,
Cathy Leas and husband Jeff, Jim Franz and wife Kay, Joe Franz and wife
Barbara, and Jerry Franz and wife Wendy; 10 grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren and numerous other beloved family and friends.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
