Harold "Hal" Ward Mansur,
June 9, 1938 - Aug. 16, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce that Harold “Hal” Ward Mansur, 90, passed away peacefully on Aug. 16, 2022, at his home in Peoria. Hal was born June 9, 1938, in Wadena, Minnesota, to Lester W. Mansur and Mae Taylor.

He attended elementary and high school in Bagley, Minnesota, prior to enrolling in Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was deployed to the Korean War Conflict. Following his military service he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he initially worked alongside his brother Robert as a linotype operator and pressman at Jessen’s weekly newspaper. His experience and knowledge working for the newspaper led him to a career as an entrepreneur, where he owned a successful printing company for 35 years.

While living in Fairbanks, he developed a passion for aviation, and became a bush pilot and hunting guide throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Always seeking adventure, he was an extraordinary aviator and outdoorsman, staying active whether flying, camping, fishing or hunting. On weekends, he ferried airplanes from factories located across the United States to Alaska.

He moved to Wickenburg upon retirement to enjoy the warm weather, reading, golf and horseback riding. In 1978, he became a member of The Desert Caballeros Trail Ride, the greatest trail ride in the American West, and later served as director. Hal was a member of Ranchos de los Caballeros Country Club and also served as President of Wickenburg Country Club where he enjoyed good laughs and banter with his friends after a round of golf. Hal loved to share his life perspectives and experiences with others and was known by all for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert F. Mansur and Clarence A. Mansur; and granddaughter, Katherine Pinkerton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lisa (Hallman) Mansur; one brother, Charles Lee Mansur of Shirley, Arkansas; daughter Andra Mansur (Robert Piland) of Mesa, son Jason Mansur (Carissa) of Gilbert, and daughter Shelly Detmer (Mark) of Paradise Valley; seven grandchildren, Nicole Pinkerton (Shawn Laidler), Amie McCabe (Mark), Alden Detmer, Mila Detmer, August Mansur, Etta Mansur and Atleigh Mansur.

A private family service will be held Friday, Nov. 4 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek.
