| Published by Yuma Sun on Nov. 13, 2022 - Yuma, Arizona - Belia Chavez, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022 after her short battle with cancer. She was born December 14, 1942 in Oquitoa, Sonora, Mexico to Alberto and Anita Rodriguez. She married Santiago Chavez who proceeded her death in 1998. First and foremost, Belia was a dedicated mother and wife. She was so proud and supportive of her children. She especially loved her role as Nana. Belia, to all who knew her was a loving and caring person. Belia is survived by her seven children, sons; Hector (Carmen) Chavez, Gus Chavez, Adrian (Diana) Chavez, Ruben (Becky) Chavez and Santiago (Heather) Chavez; daughters Griselda (Robert) Vigil, Elizabeth (Fred) Dammeyer; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Belia was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Roberto Rodriguez and Gloria Rodriguez; grandson Kanin Steven Chavez and partner Homero Chavez. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Yuma as the staff were compassionate and loving to Belia during her journey.
