>> STEPHEN JOHN FILSINGER <<
On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Jesus took Steve to his heavenly home
while he was hospitalized in Kingman, Arizona with pneumonia and
multiple myeloma. He was born on September 14, 1946 in Los Angeles,
California.
Steve grew up in Glendale, California. After attending Hoover High
School, he joined the Air National Guard where he served three years
before earning his bachelors degree in computer science at Cal Poly
Pomona and a masters degree from Washington State University. It was in
Washington that his daughters, Shannon and Sheila were born. After
living in the San Francisco Bay Area and Texas they settled in Orange
County, California. He worked as a DB2 specialist until he retired after
25+ years with Experian in 2015. As he got older he found joy in
traveling to exotic places.
In 2007 Steve met and fell in love with the love of his life, Sharon and
they married in 2009. They loved cruising to Alaska, Mexico, the
Caribbean and the Mediterranean as well as river cruises in Europe and
the Mississippi. His Christian faith led him to work with He Intends
Victory, a worldwide HIV/AIDS ministry. In addition to sponsoring AIDS
orphans in Africa he traveled to spread the love of Jesus Christ in
Africa and Southeast Asia. He also visited Greece, Japan, Israel, and
Mexico. Steve and Sharon relocated to Bullhead City, Arizona in 2012.
Steve felt the unending love and compassion of the community and his
church, Desert Shores Community Baptist Church.
Steve's two kids, Shannon (Richard) Lucker and Sheila (David) Yoon and
Sharon's three kids, Courtney (Dan) Lowry, Sean (Sarah) Hylton, and Todd
(Kristina) Hylton, embraced the new joined family, and "Grandpa Steve"
was adored by all 11 of the grandchildren, Stephanie, William, Julianna,
Brycen, Caidlyn, Ryan, Ethan, Porter, Parker, Michaela, and Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Filsinger;
sister, Doris Chiste; and nephew, Michael Kienholz.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon; five children; two nieces; 11
grandchildren; and his beloved Mastiff, Bear."
Steve will be remembered by those around him for his smile, and his love
of ice cream.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022
at Desert Shores Community Baptist Church, 2625 Landon Dr. followed by
an ice cream social in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Desert Shores or He Intends
