Nancy J. Hasselbach was born June 30, 1935, to Rudolph and Amelia
Hasselbach in Toledo, Ohio, and passed away Dec. 31, 2022, in
Cottonwood, Arizona, at Best of Europe where she had resided for a short
while.

Nancy graduated from Ohio University and later received a Master’s
Degree in Education. She was a teacher in Ohio before moving to Arizona.
She first taught in Coolidge and then was employed as a guidance
counselor at Kingman High School for many years.

During her counseling career, Nancy, who was an avid sports enthusiast,
spent many of her after-school hours refereeing, keeping team
statistics, or cheering students on from the sidelines. The scholarship
programs were also a strong focus of her attention, and many students
were rewarded by her efforts.

Upon retirement, Nancy moved to Chino Valley, where she established a
new home on property she had purchased earlier. After settling in, she
immediately got involved in her new community.

Having always shared her home with many furry friends, Nancy’s love of
animals was legendary. She spent a great deal of time volunteering with
a number of animal rescue programs in Chino Valley. The Prescott VA and
the county library benefited from her willingness to serve as well. She
also continued to be interested in all kinds of sports, attending games
and activities in and around Prescott.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her
cousin Linda in Ohio. Per Nancy’s request, there will be no services.
Her ashes will be spread “where the vistas are wide and the antelope
roam.” Anyone wishing to send a memorial remembrance is encouraged to
make a contribution to their favorite animal refuge.
