REAPER CLAIMS AGED PIONEER
Tuesday evening, death claimed another of the noble pioneer women of
this territory, when Mrs. Arzulla Allred was summoned to the unknown.
After partaking of her evening meal at the home of Mrs. Potts, where she
was living, she complained of feeling unwell, and without any suffering,
she passed away.
The cause of her demise was due to general debility, and was
superinduced by old age. She was ninety-two years old and with her
husband, arrived in Prescott over thirty years ago, coming from
Tennessee. She was the mother of thirteen children, many of whom are
still residing in the territory, and several of whom were in this
section to attend her funeral, yesterday. Her husband preceded her
nearly two years ago, and is buried near Thumb Butte, at the place they
located upon when they first arrived in this county. Mrs. Allred was a
woman of kindly disposition, and sorrow will follow the announcement of
her death. She was buried alongside her late husband, yesterday
afternoon, by the Ruffner Undertaking company, amid the scenes where she
spent her earlier Arizona life, and where she expressed a wish to be
cared for when the final summons came.
