Long time LHC resident Ruth (Ruthie) June Spillane Moulton Grader passed
away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2023. She was 96 years young.

Ruth was born in Rochester, NY on November 4, 1926 to Francis & Julia
(Winkler) Spillane. She was the 3rd youngest of 11 siblings.

Ruth graduated from East High School in Rochester. On November 3, 1945,
she married Jonathan F. Moulton Sr. They were parents to 8 children, 7
sons and 1 daughter. They opened their 1st restaurant, The Pepper Pot,
in Rochester. In 1972, they moved to LHC. Their they open Ruthie's
Tavern in Desert Hills. It was known for it's Friday night Fish Fry;
which people still talk about today. After Ruthie's was sold, she
opened the Deli Bar in downtown LHC, now the site of McKee's.

Ruthie earned the love and respect of everyone who had the pleasure of
meeting her. Up until her death, local people would see her and start
asking how she was doing and let her know how much they loved her, her
restaurants and the sense of welcoming that she always offered.

Ruth always provided free dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas to make
sure everyone had a good meal and good company on those days. She
wanted everyone to realize that they were important and loved. On any
day, if you were at her house at mealtime, she always insisted that you
join in. If you left hungry, that was your fault!

Ruthie was very active in the Knights of Columbus, VFW, The American
Legion and her bowling league. She was blessed with a beautiful singing
voice that she shared as a wedding/party singer and in
local theater productions.

In spite of having some very hard times during her life, Ruth always
said she had a good life. She never really complained, except for the
summer heat!!

After becoming a widow, she met and married Jack Grader. They spent
their time together running the Deli Bar and traveling through the US
and Canada.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husbands: Jonathan F Moulton Sr & Jack
Grader, her parents: Francis & Julia Spillane, 3 sons: William F.
Moulton, Richard G. Moulton & Jonathan F. Moulton Jr., her grandson:
Luke Moulton, great granddaughter: Haylie Novatny and 9 siblings.

Ruthie is survived by her sons: Terrance (Regina), Michael, Timothy
(Tammy) and Sean (Christine) and her daughter, Patricia (Jack)
Gallagher, her sister: Helen McLaughlin. She is also survived by18
grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.

Every night, Ruth spoke with the Lord before bed and thanked him every
morning for giving her the strength and energy to get up and do it all
again!

A memorial Mass & Celebration of her Life will be held at Our Lady of
the Lake church in LHC on November 4, 2023 at 10 AM. All are welcome to
join and share your memories.
