| Published by Today's News Herald from Apr. 15 to Apr. 16, 2023 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Vanthie (Evanthia) Theodora Higgins passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Lake Havasu City, just shy of her 95th birthday. She was born on March 24, 1928, in Saskatoon, Canada. Vanthie was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who had a wonderful heart, and who was loved by many. She was an extremely giving person to all who knew her and loved spending time with family members and friends. As a child growing up, Vanthie spent time in Greece during WWII. Here she acquired an endearing Greek accent which would eventually become a signature part of her personality throughout life. She will be deeply missed. Vanthie and her husband Don built their retirement home in Lake Havasu City 32 years ago, previously living in Southern California. Early in their retirement, Vanthie and Don enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. During this time, She shared a passion for the outdoors, eventually deciding on a favorite spot in Hagerman Idaho, where extended vacations were spent relaxing in their travel trailer and fishing on the Snake River. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Teresa) Johnson, and Terrance (Ellen) Johnson, stepdaughter Donna (Greg) Higgins, and stepson Tracy Higgins, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great- grandchildren, and her dog and companion Wolfie. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and sister |
