| Amarillo Globe-News (Amarillo, Texas) Wednesday, February 26, 2003 Richard Lee Barnette, 75, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Randy Srader of Southwest Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Barnette had lived in Amarillo since 1961. He was a life member of Amarillo Bowling Association, where he was Man of the Year for 1992- 1993. He was a brotherhood member in Order of the Arrow of Boy Scouts of America. He married Mary Kirkpatrick on Jan. 22, 1955, in Saybrook, Ill. He was retired from the Air Force, serving his country for 20 years and afterward, going to work for Tradewind Airport for 19 years. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Tarpley and husband, Danny, and Cindy Batchelor and husband, Delbert, all of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Jason Tarpley and Brittney Batchelor, both of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106. [inscriber's note: Richard was born in Arizona] |
