MAX ROSS COLGROVE of Wickenburg, Arizona passed away on June 13, 2023 at the age of 84.

Max was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska. Max was the youngest of three children, having two older sisters. At age five his mother passed away from cancer and he was then raised by his father, aunts and step-mother. At age seventeen he enlisted in the Navy where he served for four years. In 1964 Max graduated with a journalism degree from Brigham Young University.

Max worked as a freelance writer, taught school, was a business owner and real estate investor. He served in many volunteer positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including: a counselor in four bishoprics, high counselor, bishop and family history library missionary with his wife in Salt Lake City. He also worked as a family search missionary, providing virtual support and spent 30 years doing his own family history research. He was very interested in his ancestors; a legacy he carried from his mother and always had a story to share about them.

In 1959 he married his wife, the love of his life, in Laie, Hawaii. He and his wife had five children. Family and friends will remember him for his sense of humor, ancestor stories, outgoing personality (always trying to figure out how someone is related to him), and honesty.

After retirement, Max enjoyed gardening, raising animals and birds. He also enjoyed sitting by his pasture meditating gospel principles, cooking and baking. His family was especially blessed to share Thanksgiving with him where he cooked many of the dishes including the turkey that he raised himself. He also spent several years as a hospice volunteer and serving those at the end of their life. He was always mindful of his neighbors and often shared his eggs with them. He was most proud of his posterity and enjoyed spending time with them and hearing about their activities. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Max was preceded in death by his son and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years and 4 children, 1 daughter in-law, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wickenburg, Arizona.

A special thanks to all who have reached out to our family during this time.
