| Published by Today's News Herald from on Jun. 18, 2023 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Thomas Joseph Speakman, 90, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Beggs, Oklahoma, Tom was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Tom was a proud Army veteran who served in the Korean War, 3rd Division, 7th Regiment, and achieved the rank of sergeant. As a child, he worked as a rancher and fruit-picker during the migration of Oklahomans to California in the Great Depression. Later, he worked as a dairy worker at Petaluma Cooperative Creamery in the 1940s through the 1960s. In 1976, Tom founded and owned Hometown Termite & Pest Control in Pleasanton, California until 1990. He then founded and owned Tonto Rim Termite & Pest Control in Strawberry, Arizona, in the 1990s. In the 1980s, he and his wife, Marcia Diane Speakman, became ordained ministers in their role as Christian marriage counselors. Tom is survived by his wife and his children, Jeffrey Speakman, Dawn Farris, Polly House, Ryan Speakman, and Erin Speakman. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his sisters Elwanda Sue Speakman, Maxine Speakman, and Shirley Conti, and his children Michael Speakman and Susan Bennett. Tom attended Lake Havasu City Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Living Word Family Church in Lake Havasu City. He loved and served the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind, all the days of his life. A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Living Word Family Church, 1890 West Acoma Blvd, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, 86403. The family requests that guests wear Western, festive, or patriotic attire to keep spirits high. The family asks that any charitable donations in lieu of flowers be made to River Valley Home Health & Hospice of Lake Havasu City. |
