| Published by Today's News Herald on Jun. 21, 2023 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Samuel "Dewey" Irvin passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 78. He was born on Sept. 12, 1944 in Poteau, Oklahoma, to Benjamin and Violet Irvin. Dewey moved to California and later graduated from Chaffey High School. He worked for California Department of Corrections in many capacities and retired as fire chief. Upon retirement in 2000, he moved to Lake Havasu City and made it his permanent home. On March 15, 1964, he married his soulmate, Judith, in Ontario, California. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage. Dewey enjoyed boating, horseback riding, playing bingo, spending time with his family, and snuggling his dear Boston Terrier, Buddy. Dewey is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Violet Irvin, siblings Fern Slone, Frank Irvin, and Elaine Beals, and granddaughter Jessica Irvin. Dewey is survived by his loving wife Judith, son Jeffrey(Maria) Irvin, daughter Brenda(Jake) Crabb, brother Timothy Irvin, sisters Helen Croll and Doris Wheeler, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Humane Society. A celebration of life will take place June 22, 2023 at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
