| Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Friday, June 27, 1958, p. 1 Rites In Oklahoma For Robert Alton Funeral services and burial will take place in Chickasha, Okla., this weekend for Robert Ross Alton, Wickenburg resident who died in Community Hospital Wednesday afternoon after a long illness. Mr. Alton was born January 9, 1878, in Grand Tower, Ill. He came to Arizona as a boy, serving as a missionary to the Indians in the northern part of the state for many years. He returned to the midwest and in 1938 came again to Arizona to reside, living on the Phoenix Highway. In his later years while ill, he lived with his neighbors, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Whitehead. Survivors include a brother, Edward Alton of Grand Island, La.; and three nephews, Raymond Alton of Utah and Donald Alton of Lakewood, Calif., both formerly of Wickenburg, and Donald Gamble of Chickasha, Okla. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Friday, July 4, 1958, p. 1 Monday Rites Held For Robert Alton Rev. R. O. Sullivan, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted funeral services Monday morning in the Wickenburg Chapel for Robert R. Alton, Wickenburg resident who died in Community Hospital June 25. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Original plans to ship the body to Chickasha, Okla., for burial were changed by members of the family. |
