SURBER, Mabel

(Maiden Name: Hewlett)

The Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Friday, March 12, 1948, p. 8 Surbers Return From Sad Trip To Kansas Rev. and Mrs. Charles Surber of the First Presbyterian church returned Friday from Kansas, where they had been called by the sudden death of Rev. Surber's mother, Mrs. Joseph T. Surber at her home in suburban Kansas City. Apparently in good health, Mrs. Surber's death was due to a heart attack. She passed away on February 21 and funeral services were postponed until February 26 awaiting the arrival of her other son, Lee W. Surber of the U.S. Navy, delayed by bad weather. She was laid to rest in the cemetery of the little town of Beagle, where the old Surber family home was located. Besides her husband and two sons, Mrs. Surber is also survived by a brother, Rev. Willard M. Hewlett of Benkelman, Neb. Before returning to Wickenburg, Rev. and Mrs. Surber visited in Ottawa, Kan., with Mrs. Surber's family. Her mother, Mrs. John Reese, passed away there last December 23.
