Bingham, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2023, at the age of 90, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Ray was born on Nov. 14, 1932, in Amherst, Texas, to his parents Thomas Hill and Clara Isabelle Bingham. He was one of six siblings. Ray, in his younger years, had many athletic achievements, including football, and track and field in which he medaled. Ray married his beloved Jeanette in April 1961. Together, they raised seven children, and are grandparents to nine, and also great grandparents to 10. For all who knew Ray, he always had a warm smile that came right through his eyes, loved nothing more than giving people a warm handshake and friendly greeting. His response to a greeting was always "Pretty good for an older feller," or It's not the age, it's the miles." Ray and Jeanette moved to Wickenburg 26 years ago and enjoyed the small town western life and wildlife. Ray was a desert enthusiast who loved exploring the desert terrain with kids and grandkids. He loved the southwest and all its creatures, especially snakes. Ray was a Marine first, former insurance producer, and more recently worked at The Meadows as a driver. He was at the Meadows, a recovery treatment center, for 18 years and 7 months. He led the patients on "desert experience walks," a nice distraction from their recovery journey in which they were introduced to desert surroundings. Even after leaving the Meadows, he would get letters from people impacted by his caring heart and servanthood. Ray loved singing and leading hymns in his past. In his last few months of life, his language and memory were diminishing, but when friends and family came to visit and sing hymns with him, he remarkably knew every word and harmonized. Ray was a man of deep faith and love for the Lord, a sweet legacy that has been passed down through many generations. Ray was laid to rest at the Wickenburg Cemetery on March 26, 2023.
