Services Tuesday For Robert Piatt
Rev. D. F. O'Sullivan, pastor of St. Anthony's Catholic Church,
conducted rites in that church at 9 a.m. Tuesday for Robert R. Piatt who
died in Community Hospital at 7 a.m. last Friday of a heart attack. He
had been a patient in the hospital for nine days.
Burial was in Wickenburg Cemetery.
Mr. Piatt, a mining engineer and geologist, and Mrs. Piatt resided at
Sylvan Village. They came here three years ago from Long Beach, Calif.,
when Mr. Piatt became affiliated with Mohave Mining & Milling Co. He was
born at Covington, Ky., March 13, 1897,and his death occurred on his
birthday. During World War II Mr. Piatt worked for the U.S. State
Department expediting the production of mica for the war effort in
Madagascar. He also spent many years as a geologist in Central and South
America and in South Africa.
Surviving are the widow; one sister, Mrs. W. R. Yeager, Sr., of Wichita,
Kan.; and two brothers, Ted Piatt of Pomona, Calif. and Joe Piatt who is
in Arabia.
