Martin "Tim" Haap

Martin "Tim" Haap passed away comfortably on July 17, 2023 in Lake
Havasu City, at the age of 79.

Tim is survived by his brother Henry, of San Marcos, California.; son
Kenneth, of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter Casie Peppersack, of
Casper, Wyoming; three grandchildren; Amanda Harris and D.J. Harris,
both of Casper, Wyoming., ,and Kayson Haap of Fort Collins, Colorado. He
is preceded in death by his mother and father and life partner, Nancy
Ley, of Lake Havasu City.

Tim was born on Oct. 15, 1943 in La Jolla, California. to Henry and Mary
Edith Haap. He graduated from Chaffey High School in 1961 and the
University of California (USC) in 1965 with a Bachelors of Science
degree in business management.

Immediately after college, Tim joined the United States Navy, graduated
from Officer Candidate School in 1966 and served there three years on
the USS Lyman K. Swanson (DD-729). He made two tours to Vietnam, each
lasting 6-7 months.

Tim was hired by what is now Verizon in 1971. He worked in numerous
management positions throughout the Ontario/Pomona area until his
retirement in 2002. He moved to Lake Havasu City in 2003 where he met
his life's partner, Nancy Ley, who died unexpectedly in 2014.

Tim was an avid golfer (3 year varsity letterman at USC). He enjoyed
hunting, fishing and a "bit" of scotch with his dear friends, Dick
Gear,and the late Tom McFaddon and "Buddy" Paugh. Tim was a member of
the American Legion, VFW and the Elks. Tim played a major role in being
a modern day Robin Hood with his friends Walt Talure and Dean McGougan,
as they would donate thousands of stuffed animals they would win from LA
County Fair to the Children's Cancer Society.
