Philip Sutton dies; veteran of two wars
Philip G. Sutton, 66, who formerly operated an Indian Trading Post at
Lehi on the Salt River Indian Reservation, died Thursday in Good
Samaritan Hospital.
Mr. Sutton, 2601 E. Culver, moved to Phoenix a year ago from the Mesa
area. Born on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana, his Indian name
was Bug-A-Ma-Geesha.
He came to Mesa 24 years ago from Milwaukee. He served in the Army from
1917 to 1919 and also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy
from 1942 to 1945.
Survivors include four adopted sons, Bruce, Shane, Charles Frazier and
Bill Cox, all of Phoenix, and Avera Davidson of Ontario.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lehi Indian Mission, 1100 E.
McDowell. Cremation will follow.
Friends may call today and tomorrow in Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. Seventh
St., and from 9 a.m. to services Monday in the church.
