Clark on April 19, 2022 - BEATRICE LOUISE VOLZ June 24, 1930 – April 18, 2022 Beatrice Louise Volz, 91, died Monday, April 18, 2022, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Born to Frank N. Chisom and Minnie A. (Carr) Chisom on June 24, 1930, in Bath, NY. Her father died when Bea was only 5 years old. Her mother then married Leland Edmund VanOrder, who adopted Bea and her brother, Gilbert. Bea graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton, Ohio, in 1948. On Feb. 26, 1952, she married the love of her life, James (Jim) L Volz, a short 4 years later. Jim and Bea had 3 wonderful sons, and stayed in Dayton until moving to Los Alamos, NM in 1964. While in Dayton, Bea was a fashion and TV model with Vogue Studio of Fashion and Modeling, and Kalan Studios of Modeling and Charm. Bea was a member of the singing group called Sweet Adelines, Kettering Chapter and performed on TV and all around the Dayton area. After moving to Los Alamos, Bea and 3 of her friends formed the harmony quartet, “The Enchan’Tones”, singing everything from lullabies to barbershop harmony. Bea opened the “Volz School of Modeling and Charm” and was a makeup artist for the “Don Juan Playhouse and Little Theater” and “Light Opera of Los Alamos”. After building their house in Los Alamos (Pajarito Acres), Bea opened a dog grooming business, which she ran out of her home for over 10 years. After retiring from grooming, she took an interest in watercolors, and won several awards for her paintings, in which her children and grandchildren proudly display in their homes today. While living in Los Alamos, Bea and Jim’s passion for life soon became sailing at Heron Lake. They won several sailing trophies, and were members of the New Mexico sailing club for many years. In March 1980, they joined a group of sailors in Marina Del Rey, CA and spent 10 days sailing in the Pacific ocean, visiting several landmarks on the west coast. In 1992, after Jim retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, they moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ, and joined the local sailing club there. They were also a part of the Alpenlite RV’ing Club, traveling with the group around the southwest. Bea and Jim celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Feb. 26, 2022. Jim would do anything for the love of his life and was by Bea’s side until she took her last breath. Jim and Bea’s marriage was filled with respect, admiration and ever-lasting commitment that will live on to inspire more true love stories. Bea is survived by her husband: Jim, Lake Havasu City, AZ. Sons: David (Velda), St James, FL; Roger (Peggy), Los Alamos, NM; Scott (Jane), Howard, Co. Grandchildren: Amy Spears, Steph Volz (David) and Kim Romero (Daniel), and granddaughter-in-law, Joanna Volz. Great grandchildren, Lilah and Paisley Spears, Cheyenne and Aly Volz, and Malea Romero. Bea is also survived by her sister-in-law, Bertie VanOrder. Bea was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Volz and her brother, Gilbert VanOrder. See Also: Find A Grave |
