Charles Keith Evans

Charles Keith Evans passed away on Oct. 26, 2023, at the age of 86 in
Lake Havasu City. Charles was born in Hayes, Kansas on Dec. 12, 1936, to
parents Charles Joseph Evans and Lou Ella Bailey.

Charles attended Kansas State University where he received his master's
degree. Afterward, he became an educator and mentor at Mesa Community
College for three decades. In 1966, Charles became the first theatre
arts professor at MCC. He proudly produced, directed, taught, was a
production manager, and technical supervisor. He also served the college
as chair of the Speech, Communication, and Theatre Arts Department, as
well as chair of the Arts Department, and Faculty Senate president
throughout his 30 years there.

July 10-27, 1991, Charles was invited to perform in the Royal Tournament
in London England/ Earl's Court portraying Abraham Lincoln and reciting
the Gettysburg address during their Civil War reenactment where he was
honored to meet the Royal Family. In October of 2022, Charles received
the MCC Hall of Fame award for his excellence in teaching.

Charles married his loving wife, Mary Ann Marcy in Scott City, Kansas.
They have been married for 64 wonderful years. They both share four
children: sons, Charles Kenneth Evans, David Evans, and Dan Evans of
Mesa, and daughter Marcy Lea O'Brien of Lake Havasu City. Their children
have blessed them with 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren
whom they adore. Charles enjoys theatre, music, reading, writing,
camping, and spending time with his family.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Jay and Lou Ella, his
brothers, Wayne and Dwayne Evans, and his son, David Evans. He is
survived by his wife, Mary Ann, sons, Charles (Kenny) and Dan, daughter,
Marcy, and sister, Lea Veach from Duluth, Georgia.

Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
