ARIZONA PIONEERS ARE PASSING
Recent Departures for their Eternal Homes Beyond The Skies
Mrs. M. E. Forrest, one of Yuma's pioneers, died at her home in Los
Angeles at 4:30 a.m. on March 19.
Mrs. Forrest was born in New York in 1841 and was one of the group of
pioneer women who moved to the West when the West was very young, but
she did not come to Yuma until about thirty years ago. She was a
resident of Yuma for many years but moved to Los Angeles quite a while
ago.
For the past year Mrs. Forrest had been in very bad health and several
weeks ago her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Fredley of Yuma, went to Los Angeles
as the end was expected at any time. Mrs. Forrest was 84 years old at
the time of her death. All the members of her family attended her
funeral except Mr. Lewis Fredley of Houston, Texas. Mrs. Forrest leaves
to mourn her two daughters, Miss Laura Schaffer of Los Angeles, and Mrs.
Jennie Fredley of Yuma, five grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.---Sun.
