Richard Lee Mailhot

Richard Lee Mailhot, also known as Dick, passed away Feb. 7, 2024 in
Lake Havasu City at the age of 83. He was born Sept. 7, 1940 to James
Albert Mailhot and Genevieve (McKinatry) Mailhot in Flint, Michigan.

Dick graduated from Atherton High School in 1958. He joined the Marine
Corps where he became tank commander and served proudly during the
Vietnam War. His military service was an integral part of his life and
he carried those values throughout his lifetime.

Soon after enlisting, he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Ann
Perry. To this long marriage, two children were born, Cynthia (Cindy)
Lynn (Mailhot) LaPeen and Robert (Bob) James Mailhot. After his military
service, he returned to Michigan worked for General Motors for 30+ years
before retiring and moving to Lake Havasu City.

Many years after the loss of his first wife, he married Karen Coleen
(Powell) Mailhot in 2017. He inherited three stepchildren; Laura Dawn
Walker, in Montana; Wendy Lea Barker and Cyrus Shane Thorup both in
Wyoming.

Dick was a fun-loving and thoughtful person, deeply patriotic and
devoted to his family and friends. He had a strong sense of loyalty to
his family and friends. He loved telling jokes and will be remembered
for his sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
His legacy will live on through those who were fortunate enough to know
him.

He was an avid golfer, even had six holes-in-one. He was a member of
Lake Havasu Golf Club. He was also an active member of the Marine Corps
League and a member of the Marine Color Guard for 10 years. Upon moving
to Arizona, he joined the Elks, Eagles, VFW, American Legion and Moose
and made many, many friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Coleen Mailhot; son Bob Mailhot
(Debbie); daughter Cindy Mailhot (Berry); stepdaughters Laura Walker and
Wendy Barker (Kent); step son Cy Thorup (Shelly); grandchildren Richard
Palmateer, Rahel Mailhot; and Phillip Palmateer. Combined, he had
several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, James and Genevieve Mailhot,
father and mother-in-law Jesse and Anna Perry, brother Dennis Mailhot,
brothers-in law Jess Perry, James Ruggles, Bill Powell, Stanley Powelll;
sisters-in-law MaryLou Perry, Beverly Perry, Sharon Powell. Also forever
in his heart his beloved wife of 34 years Judith Ann (Perry) Mailhot.

Please join a celebration of life at the Lake Havasu Elks Lodge on March
3, 2024 at 3 p.m.
