Walter C. Thiede

Lake Havasu City, Arizona -

Walter C. Thiede, 96, of Lake Havasu City and Webster, Wisconsin, died
peacefully in his sleep, Feb. 14, 2024. A celebration of life will be
held 3 p.m. on March 10, 2024, at Shugrue's Bridgeview room with
military honors. Other celebrations will be held in Illinois and
Wisconsin at later dates.

Walt was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Schiller Park, Illinois to Walter C. and
Anna C. (Moeller) Thiede. Walt joined the Navy at the age of 17 during
World War II. He served on the APA Thomas Jefferson in the South
Pacific.

He went on to have many careers including a structural iron worker and
retired as a maintenance supervisor for School District 211 both in the
Chicago area.

He is survived by his significant other and caregiver of 24 years,
Marilyn Flick. He also is survived by his sons, Walter G. and David, and
daughters, Kelly (Chuck) and Roberta: Marilyn's daughter, Sue, and their
combined families of 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews, and his best four-legged friend, Emma.

He joins his brother, Albert and sister, Lucille, wife Louise, daughters
, Barbara and Donna, his grandson, Wally, and best friend, Bobbie Scholl
in heaven.

He enjoyed fishing, golf, dancing, pool/billiards, coaching, and playing
hockey. In his early years, he lettered in basketball and baseball, rode
motorcycle and his horse, Smokey. He also enjoyed playing Spider
Solitaire and shopping Amazon on his computer. He loved watching
Westerns, especially the "Lonesome Dove" miniseries which he'd watched
many times! The White Sox, Chicago Bears, and Blackhawks were his teams.
He had numbers for a Super Bowl pool three days before he died.
